MillerCoors, a joint venture between Molson Coors Brewing Co and SABMiller PLC, is being forced to pull its 39 brands of beer from store shelves in Minnesota because the company's brand license renewal paperwork was not processed before the government shut down. MillerCoors, whose brands include Blue Moon, Coors Light, Miller High Life and others, claims that it sent the appropriate paperwork in on time and even received notification from the state that it had overpaid fees. The company then sent a check for the correct amount, $1,170, or $30 per brand, which it says was received by the state 3 days before the shutdown began on June 30th.
