Yahoo Developing Magazine App for iPads, Android Devices

Yahoo is reportedly developing a new application for Apple's iPad as well as tablets running Google's Android operating system designed to package the company's growing crop of content into one place.  The magazine style application, called Livestand, will collect news and images from Yahoo's stable of Internet properties.  Yahoo hopes to make Livestand available during first half of this year.

Livestand will deliver content to users gathered from Yahoo's news, sports, finance and gossip sections, as well as volunteer submissions from the Yahoo-owned Flickr photo-sharing service and the how-to article provider, the Contributor Network.  The content displayed on the app will be dependent on user-specified settings based on their interests, location, and time of the day.

Eventually, Yahoo hopes to open the Livestand app to third-party publishers.
