What Double-Dip?  California Home Sales, Prices Up

Though a number of real estate analysts have begun talking about a double dip in the housing market, California saw a rise in sales in December to the highest level seen since May.  The statewide median price also rose from the previous month, though it is still down from December of 2009.

Sales were up 5.9 percent in December from the month prior, but still 6.8 percent below levels seen in December 2009.  The median price for existing, single-family homes, after three straight monthly declines, climbed 1.7 percent in December, though is still 1.6 percent below the median price from December 2009.
