Wendy's Considering Sale of Arby's Branch

Wendy's / Arby's Group is reportedly considering selling off its Arby's roast beef sandwich chain in order to concentrate on the better-performing Wendy's brand.  The company's chairman, Nelson Peltz said in an interview, “the reality is that the Wendy's brand, given its relative size and scope, is the key driver of shareholder return, and we believe we should focus on the execution of the compelling growth opportunities at Wendy's.”

Sales at Arby's North American restaurants open a least 15 months fell 5.9 percent during the third quarter, after dropping 7.4 percent in the second and 11.5 percent in the first.  The company is reportedly collaborating with UBS Investment bank to explore strategic alternatives for the Arby's brand, including a potential sale.
