Warren Buffett Exploring Opportunities In India, Other Large Countries

Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor who runs the Berkshire Hathaway investment holding company, commented on Tuesday that he is looking at a number of potential investment opportunities in large countries with emerging economies like India.  Berkshire Hathaway already owns a substantial portfolio of insurance and utility investments from all over the globe.

“I don't consider India as an emerging market, I consider India as a very big market,”  Buffett told reporters.  “We continue to look at large countries like India.”  Berkshire Hathaway, at the end of 2010, controlled some $38 billion worth of stock and cash equivalents, and last week paid $9 billion to acquire an American specialty chemicals company called Lubrizol.  Buffet told reporters in South Korea on Monday that the company is looking to acquire more companies in large countries around the world.
