Stanford Ends Uconn's NCAA Record Win Streak

The Stanford Cardinal women's basketball team joined the Notre Dame men's team Thursday night, defeating the Uconn Huskies to bring an end to their NCAA-record 90 game winning streak.  Ironically, Stanford was also the last team to defeat UConn before the historic streak began, back in 2008 in a Final Four semifinal game.  Furthermore, during UConn's streak, Stanford was the only team to lead the Huskies at halftime of a game, managing the feat twice.

Uconn's streak is the longest in NCAA history, by a men's team or otherwise.  John Wooten's famous UCLA teams of the 70s had the longest streak in NCAA history at 88 games until just last week when coach Geno Auriemma and the Huskies surpassed it.  And just as UCLA's streak was sandwiched in between losses to Notre Dame, Uconn's streak was sandwiched between losses to the Cardinal.
