Sears Targets Amazon Affiliates

Another of Amazon's competitors has decided to try to take advantage of its ongoing dispute with its affiliate sellers over sales taxes.  Sears Holdings Corp reportedly sent a letter to the disgruntled e-sellers on Thursday, inviting them to sign up with the Department Store.

The move followed a statement from Amazon that it would stop working with its affiliates in states that enacted legislation that wold require the company to collect sales taxes from its sellers.  The letter claims that Amazon is turning its back on its sellers and trying to gain an unfair competitive advantage by refusing to collect the tax money.

A spokesman for Amazon has so far declined to comment on the story.  Sears joins Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Barnes & Noble, who have also sent letters wooing Amazon affiliates.
