Roy Williams Makes Good on Dez Bryant Promise
Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant is probably wishing he did not refuse to carry teammate Roy Williams' pads, back in July. A longstanding tradition in the NFL calls for a rookie player to carry veteran players' pads, or do various other forms of chores. However, Bryant caused quite a stir, in the press, when he refused to carry Williams' shoulder pads into the locker room.
Later, when Williams was interviewed, the former star receiver said that it was no big deal, but did say that Bryant would be picking up a rather expensive dinner tab. This week, after Williams had his first great game in nearly two years, the former UT receiver made good on his promise. Bryant agreed to take out his fellow offensive teammates to dinner at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse. What he didn't expect to do was take the defensive players (invited by Williams) out too. After ordering "everything on the menu", with
some players even taking home bottles of expensive wine, the final tab was $54,896. Bryant's advisor commented, "They got the young fella......What could he say? He had to pay it unless he wanted to wash dishes for a month."
