McDonald's Profits Rise

McDonald's Corp released its fourth-quarter results Monday, indicating a 2 percent rise in profits, which were driven by more frequent customer visits during the period, the company said.

Based in Oak Brook, Illinois, the fast-food chain reported quarterly earnings of $1.24 billion, or $1.16 per share, compared to earnings of $1.22 billion, $1.11 per share, in the same quarter a year before.  The company said that currency exchange rates cut profits by 2 cents per share in the quarter.  Total revenue for the company was reported as $6.21 billion, compared to $5.97 billion the year before.  The data included receipts from franchised locations.
