Linux Mint Releases “Julia” Linux Operating System

Linux Mint Releases “Julia” Linux Operating
System
Linux Mint, the third most popular distributor of the Linux operating system, announced on Monday that the final release of Julia, the company's tenth version of Linux, is now available.
Founded in 2006, Linux Mint trails only Ubuntu and Fedora among distributors of the Linux open source operating system. Julia, also known as version 10, offers a number of enhancements that increase the operating system's usability.
For example, a new Welcome Screen allows users to install any multimedia codecs they may need right from the start in addition to allowing for the simple upgrade to the DVD version. Linux Mint has traditionally been known for its superior compatibility, primarily thanks to the company's practice of including a number of proprietary codecs not found on other Linux versions. The new compatibility features of Julia expands on that reputation.
Julia also offers a revamped menu, which highlights newly installed programs and adds support for GTK bookmarks and themes for easy customization. The system also keeps track of what's available in software repositories so that users can search for and instal software packages without opening the Software Manager.
The Software Manager, meanwhile, has been updated as well, allowing for easier browsing through software packages. Application icons have been added which make programs easier to recognize, and software is now categorized more clearly.
Other changes to the operating system include a revamped update manager, a number of security enhancements and technical improvements, and an improved look and feel to the OS.
