L.A. Foreclosures Dropped in 2010

RealtyTrac, a California-based provider of real estate statistics, reported Thursday that foreclosures in the Los Angeles metropolitan area dipped 16 percent from 2009 to last year.  Still, the area ranked second in the nation in foreclosures among major metropolitan areas behind only the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area.  The region posted a total of 147,715 seizures in 2010.

However, RealtyTrac said, as far as foreclosure rate goes, the L.A. Area was 39th in the nation out of 206 metro areas with a rate of 3.34 percent.  RealtyTrac's 2010 final report showed an increase in foreclosure activity in 149 of the areas included, but the areas with the 10 highest foreclosure rates decreased, including L.A.'s neighbor, Riverside / San Bernardino, which saw foreclosures dip more than 20 percent from '09 to '10.
