Investors Ready For Flurry of Earnings Reports

Investors have largely ignored economic reports over the last few weeks, turning their attention instead to the upcoming flurry of financial reports from most of the nation's large companies.  The next few days will be a bust time, with about 10 percent of companies listed on the Standard & Poor's 500 set to release earnings this week.

Analysts think the market is due for a correction, but has been “resting” by moving sideways rather than down as it awaits the avalanche of earnings reports this week.  On Friday, both the Dow and S&P 500 posted their seventh consecutive week of gains.  All three major US stock indexes were closed on Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
