Google TV Nearing UK Launch

According to two separate reports in British publications The Telegraph and The Daily Mail, Internet search giant Google is preparing to launch its Google TV service in the UK sometime in the next six months. The reports both indicate that CEO Eric Schmidt will announce the plan at the Edinburgh Television Festival, which begins Friday.

Details are fairly sketchy at this point, but speculation has it that the launch will include integration of the British Broadcasting Company's iPlayer and ITV's media player. While an exact launch date is unknown at this time, tech insiders believe the launch will likely coincide with Google's release of the Honeycomb version of the Google TV service.
