Google, Facebook Looking Into Twitter Takeover

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, a number of companies, including Google Inc and Facebook, have their sights set on Twitter for a takeover.  Some of these talks have reportedly valued the social networking sensation at as high as $10 billion.

Twitter recently raised some $200 million in investment capital in a deal that valued it at $3.7 billion.  As of September, Twitter had 175 million registered users.  The Website is a platform which allows users to post messages limited to 140 characters to groups of followers, and has become a popular destination for celebrities to keep fans updated on their activities.

The report indicated that the talks have so far gone nowhere, and that requests for comment on the story have gone unanswered by spokesmen for Twitter, Google, and Facebook.
