GameStop Launches Facebook Store

GameStop Launches Facebook Store
GameStop, the largest US retailer of video games, has reportedly launching a Facebook store in its latest move into the digital world. The store is available on GameStop's Facebook page, and is powered by Adregate Markets. The company recently acquired Spawn Labs, a startup that develops streaming game technology, as well as the online game distribution firm Impulse. This after the company purchased Kongregate, a social gaming destination and community site for gamers, in 2010.
The new Facebook store offers a marketplace where gamers can purchase games, product videos and reviews, a location finder, product carousels, and the ability to “Like” and share products. Fans will also be able to purchase “pre-orders” on games and arrange in-store pickup. GameStop is also starting a loyalty program through which gamers can earn and redeem points when making purchases through the Facebook store.
Unconfirmed rumors have started going around, meanwhile, that GameStop is developing a tablet computer to compete with the iPad. GameStop officials have so far declined to comment on those rumors.
