Dirty Looks Frontman Henrik Ostergaard Dead at
47
Henrik Ostergaard, one of the founding members and frontman of the San Francisco-based hard rock band, Dirty Looks, died Thursday morning at his home in Erie, Pennsylvania at the age of 47. Erie County Coroner Lyle Cook said the man had died of natural causes at 9:18 AM EST.
“I'm deeply saddened by the news of Henrik's passing,” commented bassist Jack Pyers, Ostergaard's bandmate for much of Dirty Looks' career. “ I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to work with and share some significant achievements with Henrik. He is and will certainly always be in my thoughts and close to my heart. So, my deepest respect to Henrik as a friend, father, husband and one of the best (expletive deleted) rock 'n roll singers that ever was.”
Dirty Looks emerged on the LA metal scene in 1984 and would release 11 albums on Atlantic, Sony, and other labels between 1985 and 1996, including the popular “Cool From the Wire” and “”Five Easy Pieces” Atlantic releases. After the band's final gig in Erie in 1996, Ostergaard continued briefly in music with Taar and Burning Orange before taking a break from music and focusing on his local moving company in Erie, 2 Guys and a Truck.
Ostergaard suffered a near-fatal bout of alcohol poisoning in early 2007, after which he would reform Dirty Looks and release a series of albums on FNA Records. The band performed for the last time in Erie in October 2008. Their last album, “I.C.U.,” was released on the FNA label last year and the band held a listening party January 21st which Ostergaard was unable to attend.
Ostergaard is survived by two sons, Henrik Jr. and Elliot.
