Brandon Marshall Stabbed, Wife Charged in Case

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall was taken to the hospital early Saturday morning, the victim of an apparent stab wound.  Marshall's wife, Michi, has been arrested in the case, and remains in a Broward County jail.  Bond was set at $7,500 in the case, and the woman has been charged aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Marshall was reportedly stabbed in the stomach, but no vital organs were pierced.  He remains in intensive care in a Broward County hospital after undergoing surgery, but doctors say he will make a full recovery.  Marshall's best friend and former college teammate, Jaguars wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker, posted the following message on his Twitter account Saturday morning:  “Brandon will be ok and is in good spirits preciate the prayers and concerns!”

This is the second serious injury Marshall has sustained off the field in his five-year career.  In March 2008, Marshall was rough-housing with his cousin at his Denver home when he fell through a glass table, suffering lacerations  to an artery, a vein, a nerve, two tendons and three muscles in his right arm.      He did recover from the incident but later stated that he played the entire 2008 season with numbness in his right hand.

The 27-year-old star  receiver just completed the first season of a four-year, $47.5 million contract he signed with Miami.  The Dolphins trade away two second-round picks for Marshall, and he delivered with an 87-catch, 1,014-yard season in 2010.  While Marshall was involved in numerous off-the-field incidents in his four years in Denver, this is his first problem since joining the Dolphins.

Brandon and Michi were married last summer just after he was traded.  Marshall was arrested in Atlanta in March, 2009 for disorderly conduct after allegedly being involved in a fight with the woman, but those charges were later dropped.
