Boeing to Increase Production of New 737

Boeing announced on Wednesday it would increase its production of the popular Being 737 narrow-body jetliner to 42 per month beginning in 2014 to keep up with the incredibly strong demand for the plane.  “Customers are demanding our Next-Generation 737 at an unprecedented rate,” said Jim Albaugh, chief executive at Boeing.

“New performance improvements and enhanced passenger comfort features have driven home the value equation for our customers,” Albaugh added.  The world's second-leading supplier of commercial aircraft after Airbus, Boeing currently produces between 31 and 32 of the new 737s each month and expects to be at 35 per month by the early part of 2012, 38 per month by the second quarter of 2013, and 42 per month in the first half of 2014.
