Bing Surpasses Yahoo, Both Still Way Behind Google

According to data released by Statcounter, Microsoft's Bing search engine has surpassed Yahoo as the second-most used search engine behind dominant Google.  The news is interesting considering at one time Microsoft pumped $44 billion into a failed takeover attempt of Yahoo, who has seen its share of the search market dwindle ever since.

Statcounter reported Bing's share of the search pie in February at 4.4 percent, while Yahoo earned just a 3.9 percent share.  The numbers are still so small that they represent no threat to the undisputed leader in search, Google, who still enjoys a market share of nearly 90 percent.  It is the first time Google has claimed less than 90 percent of the pie in a long time, but the gap is so enormous that the decline won't cause the Mountain View, California search company to lose any sleep.
