Anheuser Busch Profits Decline

Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's largest brewer, released its fourth-quarter results Thursday, showing a 24 percent drop in profits as compared with 2009's final three months.  The company reported profits for the three months ending December of $968 million, down from profits of $1.3 billion a year ago.

For the full year 2010, A-B InBev said it made profits of $4 billion on revenue of $36.3 billion, down from profits of $4.6 billion on revenue of $36.8 billion in 2009.  In 2010, the company said, Budweiser, the company's best-selling brand, grew volume by 1.7 percent around the world.  It was the first volume expansion for the brand in twenty years, fueled by growth in China, Canada, and the UK.  Double-digit growth internationally helped offset declining sales in the US, the company said.
