Amazon to Sell Android Apps
Amazon to Sell Android Apps
Amazon announced they will begin selling Android apps from their online store. The move is intended to stimulate interest for consumers and delvelopers alike. The deal was quite appealing to Google since, oddly enough, finding apps through its Android Market store proved to be a more than tedious process, while Amazon's store will function with little to no hassle.
Amazon will take their usual 30% cut of any app sales and developers can keep the rest. Developers must first agree to not sell their apps, on other websites, at lower prices.
Currently, there are more than 80,000 Android apps available. Google and Amazon both hope their recent deal will spur development, making it more of a competitor with industry leader Apple, who has around a quarter of a million apps in their arsenal.
